St. John of God – The Laurels

COMPLETION 2019

Project Brief

Hollyfort Services completed “The Laurels” designed by Moloney O’Beirne Architects, which was nominated for the prestigious biennial ICSH Allianz Community Housing Awards 2019.

This property was initially intended as a residential house, but it was later converted into a Day Service property for individuals with disabilities. The development team placed great importance on certain aspects, such as having spacious en-suite bedrooms, ample circulation space, and integrating with the surrounding environment from the outset. Despite having a limited budget, the team managed to come up with a simple yet efficient solution to blend in with the landscape. This was done by creating a self-coloured charcoal render box called the ‘Garden Room’, which provides a peaceful place for residents to appreciate nature.
